Our Take
Ah, POLARIS and their latest offering, Fatalism. A rollercoaster ride through the depths of existential dread, shimmering with an undeniable charm that is as intoxicating as it is haunting.
From the opening track, "On the Edge of Reason", the band plunges headfirst into a whirlwind of distorted guitars and pulsating rhythms, setting the tone for the rest of the album. Lead singer Alex's vocals soar above the chaos, at times introspective and vulnerable, at others filled with a fiery defiance that demands to be heard.
Tracks like "Doomed Devotion" and "Dark Night of the Soul" showcase POLARIS' ability to blend genres seamlessly, weaving together elements of post-hardcore, metalcore, and even hints of prog rock, creating a sound that is uniquely their own.
The standout of the album has to be the epic closer, "The Great Abyss", a sprawling masterpiece that crescendos into a cacophony of sound before collapsing in on itself in a breathtaking finale.
While Fatalism may not be for the faint of heart, for those willing to surrender themselves to its dark allure, it is a journey well worth taking.
