Our Take
Mordor's latest offering, "¿Evolución?", is like taking a musical journey through Middle Earth, but instead of encountering magical creatures and epic battles, you're just stuck in traffic on the M25. With a sound that teeters between thrash metal and power ballads, Mordor manages to capture the essence of angst-ridden teenagers everywhere. The album kicks off with the track "Goblin Groove", a catchy tune that will have you headbanging in no time. But just when you think you've got the hang of it, Mordor throws in a curveball with "Elven Elegy", a slow burner that wouldn't be out of place on a mixtape for your emo phase. Lead singer Gorthor's vocals are a highlight throughout the album, reminiscent of a wailing banshee trying to outdo a dragon's roar. The guitars wail and crash like the walls of Helm's Deep being breached, while the drums pound relentlessly like the Boromir meme being beaten to death. Overall, "¿Evolución?" is a solid effort from Mordor, showcasing their ability to blend influences from both the heavy metal and fantasy realms.
