Our Take
Ah, The Sherlocks, the band that sounds like they were plucked straight out of a time machine from the mid-2000s indie era. Everything Must Make Sense! is their latest offering, and let me tell you, it's a rollercoaster of emotions and guitar riffs. From the get-go, the album kicks off with a bang with the opening track "I Want It All." It's like Arctic Monkeys meets The Wombats meets your local pub band on a Friday night. Lead vocalist Kiaran Crook's raspy vocals are the perfect complement to the jangly guitars and punchy drums. But don't let the catchy tunes fool you - there's a depth to The Sherlocks' songwriting that sets them apart from your average lad rock band. Tracks like "One Day" and "Time to Go" showcase a vulnerability and introspection that make you question whether these lads are actually sensitive souls underneath those leather jackets. However, not every track on Everything Must Make Sense! hits the mark. Some songs feel a bit too repetitive, and the lyrics can veer into cliché territory at times. But when The Sherlocks get it right, they really get it right. Overall, Everything Must Make Sense! is a solid effort from The Sherlocks. If you're a fan of guitar-driven indie rock with a bit of cheeky charm, this album is definitely worth a spin.
