Our Take

Magic Sam's "Everything Gonna Be Alright - The Complete Cobra, Chief & Crash Sides" is a time machine disguised as a record. This compilation of his early work on Cobra Records is a treasure trove for any blues enthusiast.

From the moment the needle drops on the controlled chaos of "All Your Love", it's clear that Magic Sam is a force to be reckoned with. His raw, emotive vocals and blistering guitar work are a masterclass in the genre.

Tracks like "Easy, Baby" and "21 Days in Jail" showcase Sam's ability to weave poignant storytelling with infectious grooves. His versatility shines through on the soulful "That's All I Need" and the rollicking "Magic Rocker".

The Chief & Crash sides offer a glimpse into Sam's evolution as an artist, with songs like "She Belongs to Me" and "Mr. Charlie" showcasing his growth and maturity.

The production on this compilation is top-notch, allowing Sam's guitar pyrotechnics to shine through while still maintaining a sense of intimacy.

Overall, "Everything Gonna Be Alright - The Complete Cobra, Chief & Crash Sides" is a must-have for any blues fan. It's a reminder of the enduring legacy of Magic Sam and a testament to his unparalleled talent. So, grab a drink, dim the lights, and let the magic of Magic Sam wash over you. You won't be disappointed.
