Our Take

PILE OF EXCREMENTS - Escatology

Rating: 3.5/10

In the world of extreme metal, there are some boundaries that even the most hardened listener hesitates to cross. Pile of Excrements, with their latest release "Escatology", certainly pushes those boundaries to the limit, and then some.

From the moment you press play, you're hit with an onslaught of bowel-churning riffs, guttural vocals, and lyrics that would make even the most jaded death metal fan blush. Tracks like "Septic Shock" and "Fecal Feast" leave little to the imagination, and that's putting it lightly.

But amidst all the filth and fury, there is a certain undeniable charm to Pile of Excrements' music. Their commitment to their grotesque aesthetic is truly impressive, and the sheer audacity of their sound is enough to make you rethink your stance on what is considered "good" music.

That being said, "Escatology" is not without its flaws. The production is muddy at best, and the songwriting can feel repetitive at times. It's a one-note album that doesn't quite offer enough variety to keep you engaged from start to finish.

In the end, Pile of Excrements may not be everyone's cup of tea (or should I say, cup of, well, you know). But for those brave enough to take the plunge into their putrid world, "Escatology" offers an experience that is as exhilarating as it is nauseating. Just make sure you have a strong stomach before you hit play.

About the artist

Pile of Excrements

Profile: PILE OF EXCREMENTS is a band that defies all conventional norms and expectations in the music industry. With a name that is guaranteed to raise a few eyebrows and turn a few stomachs, this Greek heavy metal trio is not for the faint of heart. Formed in the fiery depths of Thessaloniki in 2014, PILE OF EXCREMENTS burst onto the scene with a raw, unapologetic sound that has been likened to a musical punch to the gut. Their music is a chaotic blend of death metal, grindcore, and punk, with lyrics that are as provocative as their name suggests. Fronted by the enigmatic figure known only as "Vomit", PILE OF EXCREMENTS has gained a reputation for their high-energy live performances that leave audiences simultaneously exhilarated and disturbed. The band's DIY ethos and disregard for traditional boundaries has endeared them to a loyal fan base of misfits, metalheads, and music lovers who crave something different. Despite their underground status, PILE OF EXCREMENTS has garnered critical acclaim for their fearless experimentation and refusal to adhere to any genre conventions. Their latest album, "Escatology", has been described as a visceral assault on the senses, with tracks that veer from breakneck speed to gut-wrenching breakdowns with reckless abandon. PILE OF EXCREMENTS may not be for everyone, but for those willing to take a plunge into the depths of depravity and darkness, this band offers a unique and unforgettable listening experience that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about music. Love them or hate them, PILE OF EXCREMENTS is here to stay, leaving a trail of sonic destruction in their wake.
