Journey's Escape: The Ultimate Sojourn into Cheese-Infused Rock If you're a fan of slick guitar solos, soaring vocals and enough glitter to blind a disco ball, then Journey's Escape is the album for you. Released in 1981, this LP takes listeners on a sonic journey (pun intended) through the heights of stadium rock and the depths of lyrical cheese. From the anthemic opener "Don't Stop Believin'" to the power ballad "Open Arms", Journey masterfully toe the line between genius and pure camp. Steve Perry's vocals soar like a bald eagle riding a lightning bolt, while Neal Schon's guitar work is as smooth as a freshly waxed Ferrari. But it's not all smooth sailing on this musical odyssey. Tracks like "Line of Fire" and "Dead or Alive" veer dangerously close to Spinal Tap territory, with lyrics so over-the-top, you half expect Nigel Tufnel to make a guest appearance.
