Our Take

Once in a blue moon, an album comes along that transports you to a tropical paradise without ever having to leave your living room. Well, "En Mode Tropical Various" is not that album. This compilation of various artists attempting to capture the essence of a sunny beach getaway falls flat like a deflated beach ball.

From the cheesy steel drum melodies to the awkward attempts at reggae rhythms, it's clear that these artists have never set foot on an actual Caribbean island. The lack of authenticity is as glaring as a sunburn on a Brit on their first day abroad.

Tracks like "Coconut Calypso" and "Margarita Madness" sound like they were created in a studio in rainy Manchester rather than on a sandy beach in Jamaica. And don't even get me started on the cringe-worthy lyrics about sipping cocktails in the sun – it's enough to make you want to reach for a stiff drink to wash away the embarrassment.
