Our Take
Our Take
If Jim Morrison were alive today, he would likely be the first to tell you that electronic music wasn't his forte. And yet, here we are with "Electronic Proclamations Of The Wild Child," a baffling album that surely has the Lizard King rolling in his grave.
From the opening track, it's clear that Morrison's iconic voice has been manipulated beyond recognition, as if he's been possessed by a robot with a penchant for auto-tune. The result is a cacophony of electronic beats and distorted vocals that would make even the most die-hard Doors fan question their loyalty.
Despite its best efforts, "Electronic Proclamations Of The Wild Child" fails to capture the raw energy and soul of Morrison's original work. Instead, it feels like a misguided attempt to cash in on the resurgence of electronic music in recent years.
That's not to say there aren't moments of promise on the album. Tracks like "Break On Through (To The Techno Side)" and "Light My Digital Fire" show glimpses of potential, but ultimately fall short of delivering the same impact as the originals.
In the end, "Electronic Proclamations Of The Wild Child" is a bold experiment that misses the mark. Perhaps it's best left as a novelty for die-hard fans, rather than a serious addition to the Morrison catalogue.
