Our Take
Our Take
You know what they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And Chapel of Disease's latest offering, Echoes Of Light (Gold/Clear Marbled Vinyl), certainly doesn't stray far from their tried and tested formula. But hey, why fix what ain't broke when you've got a winning recipe for infectious death metal grooves?
From the moment the needle hits the groove, you're hit with a wall of sound that's as heavy as a sack of bricks. But don't let that fool you – there's plenty of nuance and subtlety to be found in Echoes Of Light. The band's ability to seamlessly blend punishing riffs with intricate melodies is truly a sight to behold.
The production on this record is top-notch, with each instrument given room to breathe and shine. The vocals are guttural and menacing, serving as the perfect counterpoint to the frenetic instrumentation. It's a sonic assault on the senses, but in the best possible way.
If you're a fan of death metal that's as catchy as it is brutal, then Chapel of Disease's Echoes Of Light is an essential addition to your collection. So sit back, crack open a cold one, and let the metal wash over you like a tidal wave of pure sonic fury. You won't regret it.

About the artist
Chapel of Disease
CHAPLE OF DISEASE, hailing from Cologne, Germany, is a band that defies easy categorization. Their unique blend of death metal, black metal, and doom influences creates an intoxicating sonic brew that is both brutal and beautiful. Formed in 2008, CHAPEL OF DISEASE have been making waves in the underground metal scene with their uncompromising sound and visceral live performances. Their debut album, "Summoning Black Gods," released in 2012, was met with critical acclaim and established them as a force to be reckoned with in the extreme metal world. The band's latest offering, "…and as We Have Seen the Storm, We Have Embraced the Eye," released in 2020, showcases their evolution as musicians and songwriters. From the haunting melodies of "Void of Words" to the blistering aggression of "Song of the Gods," CHAPEL OF DISEASE demonstrate a mastery of their craft that is truly impressive. Frontman Laurent "Grit" Teubel's guttural vocals are as haunting as they are powerful, while guitarist Cedric Glustorf's riffs cut through the mix like a chainsaw. The rhythm section of Christian Krieger on bass and David "Dave" Dolezal on drums provide a solid foundation for the band's sonic assault. With their dark, atmospheric sound and unrelenting intensity, CHAPEL OF DISEASE are a band that demands to be experienced live. Whether you're a die-hard metalhead or just a casual listener, CHAPEL OF DISEASE are a band that you won't soon forget.
