Dr. Feelgood's debut album, "Down By the Jetty," is a raucous romp through the seedy underbelly of rhythm and blues. Released in 1975, this record captures the raw energy and infectious swagger of the Canvey Island quartet. From the blistering opening track "She Does It Right," to the gritty blues of "Back in the Night," Dr. Feelgood showcase their impeccable musicianship and electrifying stage presence. Guitarist Wilko Johnson's frenetic playing style is a highlight throughout, delivering razor-sharp riffs and blistering solos with effortless precision. Vocalist Lee Brilleaux's gravelly voice adds a touch of menace to tracks like "Keep It Out of Sight" and "All Through the City," while the rhythm section of John B. Sparks and The Big Figure provide a solid foundation for the band's fiery performances.
