Our Take
Our Take
Parkway Drive's latest release, "Don't Close Your Eyes," is a sonic rollercoaster that takes listeners on a journey through heavy riffs, thunderous drumming, and guttural vocals. The Australian metalcore band proves once again why they are at the top of their game with this hard-hitting album.
From the moment the needle hits the specialty clear vinyl, Parkway Drive grabs you by the ears and doesn't let go. The energy and intensity of tracks like "Wishing Wells" and "Absolute Power" will have you headbanging like there's no tomorrow. The blistering guitar solos and breakdowns are enough to make even the most seasoned metalhead break a sweat.
But it's not all just ear-pummelling aggression on "Don't Close Your Eyes." Parkway Drive also showcases their more melodic side with tracks like "The Void" and "Shadow Boxing," where frontman Winston McCall's vocals soar above the crushing instrumentation.
Overall, "Don't Close Your Eyes" is a beast of an album that doesn't disappoint. Parkway Drive have once again proven why they are one of the most respected and revered bands in the metal scene. So crack open a pint, turn up the volume, and let Parkway Drive's latest masterpiece transport you to a headbanging paradise. Cheers!

About the artist
Parkway Drive
Parkway Drive are the Australian metalcore maestros who have been shaking up the scene for over a decade. With their shredding guitars, bone-rattling breakdowns, and relentless energy, they have managed to carve out a niche for themselves in a genre crowded with imitators. Formed in 2003 in the sleepy surf town of Byron Bay, Parkway Drive quickly rose to prominence with their explosive live shows and no-holds-barred approach to songwriting. Drawing influences from heavyweights like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying, they have managed to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Frontman Winston McCall leads the charge with his guttural vocals and commanding stage presence, while guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling lay down the heavy riffs that have become the band's trademark. Bassist Jia O'Connor and drummer Ben Gordon provide the thunderous backbone that drives their sound to new heights. Despite their success, Parkway Drive have never lost touch with their roots, and their lyrics are often a reflection of the struggles and triumphs of their upbringing in small-town Australia. From songs about environmental destruction to tales of personal resilience, their music is as thought-provoking as it is headbang-inducing. With six studio albums under their belt, including the critically acclaimed "Reverence" and "Ire," Parkway Drive show no signs of slowing down. Whether you're a die-hard metalcore fan or a casual listener looking for something a bit heavier, Parkway Drive are guaranteed to leave you with a sore neck and a newfound appreciation for the power of metal.
