Our Take
Our Take
Lewis Capaldi's debut album, "Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent," could easily be mistaken for a memoir written by a man who loves a good cry. From the tender balladry of "Someone You Loved" to the cheeky self-deprecation of "Before You Go," Capaldi wears his heart on his sleeve like a badge of honor.
The Scottish singer-songwriter's voice is a force to be reckoned with, hitting those high notes with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker and the emotion of a Shakespearean actor. As he navigates the treacherous waters of love and loss, Capaldi proves he's more than just another sad-boy crooner - he's a sad-boy crooner with a heart of gold.
But while his talent is undeniable, "Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent" can sometimes feel a bit one-note. Capaldi's penchant for soul-baring ballads can start to feel a tad repetitive after a while, like listening to the same sad song on repeat for hours on end.
Still, when Capaldi lets loose and injects a bit of humor into his music, as he does on tracks like "Maybe" and "Hold Me While You Wait," the album truly shines. It's in these moments that Capaldi reveals himself to be not just a melancholic troubadour, but a charming and witty storyteller as well.
In the end, "Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent" may not reinvent the wheel, but it's a solid debut from an artist who wears his heart on his sleeve - and isn't afraid to show it. Cheers to you, Mr. Capaldi. Cheers to you.

About the artist
Lewis Capaldi
Lewis Capaldi may not be your typical heartthrob pop star with chiseled abs and a flashy wardrobe, but what he lacks in traditional star power, he more than makes up for with his raw talent and genuine charm. Hailing from the picturesque town of Bathgate, Scotland, Capaldi burst onto the music scene in 2017 with his soulful debut single "Bruises," which quickly catapulted him to stardom. With his distinctively gravelly voice and knack for penning emotionally charged ballads, Capaldi has captured the hearts of millions around the world, earning himself a dedicated fanbase and a string of chart-topping hits. But don't be fooled by his self-deprecating humour and penchant for cheeky social media posts - behind the witty banter lies a truly gifted musician who is unafraid to wear his heart on his sleeve. His debut album, "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent," is a poignant and introspective collection of songs that showcase Capaldi's storytelling prowess and vocal prowess. Tracks like "Someone You Loved" and "Before You Go" have struck a chord with listeners thanks to their heartfelt lyrics and powerful melodies, cementing Capaldi's status as one of the most exciting talents in the industry today. Whether he's belting out a heart-wrenching ballad or cracking jokes on stage, there's no denying that Lewis Capaldi is a force to be reckoned with. With his signature blend of wit, vulnerability, and raw talent, he is poised to leave a lasting impact on the world of music for years to come. And for that, we can't help but raise a glass to the Scottish sensation that is Lewis Capaldi. Cheers, mate.
