Our Take

If only The Deviants had worked as hard on their music as they did on their album title, maybe Disposable would have been worth listening to. This mishmash of psychedelic rock, punk, and garage sounds like a bad acid trip - disjointed, confusing, and ultimately forgettable.

Lead singer Mick Farren's vocals are a cacophony of screeches and whispers, while the instrumentation is a messy jumble of too-loud guitars and aimless drum fills. It's as if the band threw every idea they had into a blender and hit "puree" without bothering to strain out the excess.

The album's lyrics are just as unfocused as its sound, with half-baked political commentary and nonsensical ramblings about love and death. It's hard to tell if the band is trying to make a statement or just trying to sound edgy - either way, it falls flat.

Disposable is the musical equivalent of a knock-off designer bag - cheap, poorly made, and destined for the landfill. Save yourself the headache and skip this one. Stick to the classics, like The Velvet Underground or The Stooges, if you want to hear real psychedelic rock that stands the test of time.
