Our Take
Our Take
Los Lobos have been around so long, they probably remember when Pitchfork was just a cooking website. But don't let their veteran status fool you - these guys can still rock out like a bunch of teenagers who just discovered their dad's record collection.
"Disconnected In New York City" is a live album that showcases the band's versatility and raw talent. From the first notes of "La Guacamaya" to the crowd-pleasing closer "La Bamba", Los Lobos prove that they can do it all - from traditional Mexican folk to good old-fashioned rock and roll.
The highlight of the album has to be their stripped-back, acoustic rendition of "Tin Can Trust". The haunting vocals and intricate guitar work will send shivers down your spine and make you wonder why you ever bothered listening to anything else.
But it's not all serious stuff - tracks like "Kiko And The Lavender Moon" and "Mas Y Mas" will have you on your feet and dancing like there's no tomorrow. The energy and passion that Los Lobos bring to their performances is infectious, and it's impossible not to get caught up in the groove.
So, if you're in the mood for some killer tunes and a good time, look no further than "Disconnected In New York City" by Los Lobos. These guys may be getting on a bit, but they've still got plenty of tricks up their sleeves - and they're not afraid to use them. Cheers to that, lads.
