Our Take
Our Take
Daniel Gradois, Renee Jolles, and Phillip Bush's latest offering, "Departures And Deviations," is a wild and whimsical journey through the world of contemporary classical music. From the haunting melodies of 'Departure' to the frenetic energy of 'Deviation,' this album is a rollercoaster of emotions and sonic textures.
Gradois' mastery of the French horn is on full display here, with his soulful playing adding depth and richness to each track. Jolles' violin weaves seamlessly in and out of Bush's intricate piano compositions, creating a dynamic and captivating listening experience.
The standout track for me has to be 'Arrival,' a stunning piece that showcases the trio's impeccable chemistry and musical virtuosity. The interplay between the instruments is truly mesmerising, drawing the listener in and refusing to let go.
However, "Departures And Deviations" isn't without its flaws. Some tracks veer too far into experimental territory, perhaps losing sight of the overall cohesiveness of the album. But hey, that's the risk you take when you're pushing boundaries and exploring new musical landscapes.
Overall, this album is a bold and ambitious statement from three incredibly talented musicians. If you're a fan of avant-garde classical music that isn't afraid to take risks, then "Departures And Deviations" is definitely worth a listen. Strap in and get ready for a wild ride!
