Our Take
Our Take
Ah, Chrysalis, the embodiment of the elusive butterfly of the music industry. Their latest offering, "Definition," is a journey through various genres, as if their sound is still figuring out what it wants to be when it grows up.
From the opening track, "Metamorphosis," Chrysalis sets the tone for the album with a blend of rock, electronica, and a hint of psychedelia. It's like they threw all their influences into a blender and hit the "pulse" button.
Lead singer Luna's vocals are as hypnotic as ever, weaving in and out of the music like a butterfly flitting from flower to flower. The lyrics are a mix of introspection and existential ponderings, making you feel like you're having a deep conversation with a drunk philosopher at a party.
As the album progresses, Chrysalis experiments with different sounds and styles, sometimes hitting the mark, sometimes missing it by a mile. But hey, that's the beauty of being a chrysalis - you get to try out different identities before settling on one.
Standout tracks include "Cocoon," a haunting ballad that showcases Luna's vocal range, and "Butterfly Effect," a chaotic explosion of sound that will leave you reeling.
Overall, "Definition" is a wild ride that will leave you scratching your head and tapping your foot in equal measure. Chrysalis may not have found their wings yet, but they're definitely on the cusp of breaking free from their cocoon.
