Hoo baby, strap in folks, because Ripcord's latest album "Defiance of Power" is a wild ride from start to finish. This punk powerhouse blasts onto the scene with the energy of a thousand angry teenagers at a skateboard park, and honestly, I'm here for it. Lead singer Johnny Rotten (not THAT Johnny Rotten, but close enough) spits out lyrics like he's got fire in his veins, and the rest of the band is right there with him, pounding out fierce riffs and thunderous drumbeats that will have you bouncing off the walls like a pinball. Tracks like "Anarchy in the UK... No, Wait, Wrong Band" and "Smash the System (But Gently)" showcase Ripcord's no-holds-barred approach to punk rock, while slower numbers like "Tear-Stained Rebellion" add a touch of depth and reflection to the mix. But what really sets this album apart is its sheer audacity. Ripcord isn't afraid to push boundaries and take risks, and it pays off in spades. They may not be reinventing the wheel, but damn if they aren't giving it one hell of a spin.
