Our Take

Australian metalcore powerhouse Parkway Drive has once again delivered a jaw-dropping album with "Deep Blue." This record is a sonic tsunami of crushing riffs, frenetic drums, and guttural vocals that will leave you feeling like you've been punched in the face (in the best way possible).

From the moment you press play, you are thrown headfirst into a moshpit of chaos and energy that doesn't let up until the final notes fade away. Songs like "Deadweight" and "Karma" showcase the band's signature blend of aggression and melody, while tracks like "Home is for the Heartless" and "Alone" take things to a whole new level of intensity.

Frontman Winston McCall's vocals are as brutal and uncompromising as ever, cutting through the mix like a rusty knife. The guitar work of Jeff Ling and Luke Kilpatrick is razor-sharp, weaving together intricate melodies and bone-crushing breakdowns with ease.

"Deep Blue" is a relentless assault on the senses, a tsunami of sound that will leave you battered and bruised but begging for more. Parkway Drive have once again proven why they are one of the biggest names in metalcore, delivering an album that is as powerful as it is memorable. So grab your leather jacket, tighten your laces, and get ready to dive into the deep blue.

About the artist

Parkway Drive

Parkway Drive are the Australian metalcore maestros who have been shaking up the scene for over a decade. With their shredding guitars, bone-rattling breakdowns, and relentless energy, they have managed to carve out a niche for themselves in a genre crowded with imitators. Formed in 2003 in the sleepy surf town of Byron Bay, Parkway Drive quickly rose to prominence with their explosive live shows and no-holds-barred approach to songwriting. Drawing influences from heavyweights like Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying, they have managed to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Frontman Winston McCall leads the charge with his guttural vocals and commanding stage presence, while guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling lay down the heavy riffs that have become the band's trademark. Bassist Jia O'Connor and drummer Ben Gordon provide the thunderous backbone that drives their sound to new heights. Despite their success, Parkway Drive have never lost touch with their roots, and their lyrics are often a reflection of the struggles and triumphs of their upbringing in small-town Australia. From songs about environmental destruction to tales of personal resilience, their music is as thought-provoking as it is headbang-inducing. With six studio albums under their belt, including the critically acclaimed "Reverence" and "Ire," Parkway Drive show no signs of slowing down. Whether you're a die-hard metalcore fan or a casual listener looking for something a bit heavier, Parkway Drive are guaranteed to leave you with a sore neck and a newfound appreciation for the power of metal.
