Our Take

Ah, Deathcrush, the debut release from Norwegian black metal pioneers MAYHEM. What can we say about this little slice of chaos? Well, for starters, it's like being slapped in the face with a raw slab of meat while simultaneously being serenaded by a pack of wild wolves. In other words, it's an absolute riot.

From the opening track, "Silvester Anfang," with its eerie, haunting intro, to the title track "Deathcrush," which will thrash your eardrums into submission, this album is a relentless onslaught of sonic aggression. The production may be lo-fi, but that just adds to the charm of the whole experience.

The standout track has to be "Chainsaw Gutsfuck," a brutal cacophony of noise that will leave you questioning your own sanity. It's like being trapped in a nightmare from which there is no escape. But in a good way, of course.

Overall, Deathcrush is a must-listen for any fan of extreme metal. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're into music that pushes boundaries and challenges your preconceptions, then this album is definitely for you. Just make sure to have a therapist on speed dial. You're gonna need it.
