Our Take
D.R.I. have certainly provided us with a hurricane of hardcore punk on their seminal album "Dealing With It!". Bursting onto the scene with a ferocity that can only be matched by a 3AM kebab craving, this album is a chaotic whirlwind of frenetic riffs and blistering beats. Lead singer Kurt Brecht's vocals can only be described as a rabid bulldog on a sugar rush, barking out lyrics with a raw energy that will leave you breathless. The lyrical content may not be breaking any boundaries, but who needs deep philosophical musings when you can have this much fun headbanging in your bedroom? The guitar work on this album is lightning fast, with riffs that hit you like a boxer with a grudge. The solos are more like electric eel shocks, sending shivers down your spine and leaving you in a state of exhilarated disbelief. The bass and drums provide the backbone of the album, driving the tracks forward with a relentless energy that never lets up. "Dealing With It!" may not be reinventing the wheel in terms of punk music, but sometimes you just need an album that kicks you in the teeth and leaves you begging for more. D.R.I. have delivered that in spades with this album, proving once again that sometimes the best music is the kind that makes you want to start a mosh pit in your living room.
