Our Take

The Grateful Dead's "Dead Set" is a curious mix of live recordings that truly captures the essence of the band's eclectic sound.

The album kicks off with the classic "Samson and Delilah," setting the tone for what's to come. The energy in this track is palpable, with Jerry Garcia's guitar licks taking centre stage, as always.

"Dire Wolf" sees the band delving into their more folky side, with Bob Weir's vocals shining through. The harmonies are tight, the crowd is loving it, and the vibes are good.

But things take a turn with "New Minglewood Blues," which sees the Dead embracing their bluesy roots with gusto. The band's musicianship is on full display here, with each member shining in their own right.
