Our Take
Our Take
Petrol Girls’ latest release, *Cut & Stitch*, is a raucous rollercoaster of feminist fury and punk energy. The South East London band, fronted by the fierce Ren Aldridge, tackle themes of gender, politics, and society with unapologetic honesty and blistering riffs.
From the opening track “The Sound,” it’s clear that Petrol Girls are not here to play nice. The pounding drums and snarling vocals set the tone for an album that doesn’t hold back. Aldridge’s lyrics are a call to arms, urging listeners to fight back against injustice and oppression.
Tracks like “Big Mouth” and “Talk of Violence” showcase the band’s ability to blend raw aggression with melodic hooks, creating a sound that is both confrontational and catchy. Guitarist Liepa Kuraite shreds with an intensity that is both captivating and electrifying.
But it’s not all anger and defiance on *Cut & Stitch*. Songs like “Monstrous” and “No Love for a Nation” reveal a more vulnerable side to the band, exploring themes of self-doubt and resilience in the face of adversity.
Overall, *Cut & Stitch* is a powerful statement from a band that refuses to be silenced. Petrol Girls have crafted an album that is as thought-provoking as it is exhilarating, proving once again that punk rock is alive and kicking in 2019.

Fronted by the charismatic Ren Aldridge, Petrol Girls tackle topics such as feminism, mental health, and social justice with a raw intensity that is both refreshing and empowering. Their music is a call to arms for those who refuse to stay silent in the face of injustice, and their live shows are a cathartic experience that will leave you feeling both exhausted and exhilarated. Whether they're raging against the patriarchy or poking fun at their own punk rock stereotypes, the band's infectious energy is impossible to resist. With a string of critically acclaimed EPs and a debut album under their belt, Petrol Girls have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in the UK punk scene.
