Our Take
Our Take
What a delightful romp through the prehistoric landscape of rock and roll! Blue Oyster Cult's "Cultosaurus Erectus" is a raucous journey filled with thunderous riffs, cheeky lyrics, and more cowbell than you can shake a fossil at.
From the galloping opener "Black Blade" to the epic closer "Fire of Unknown Origin," this album is a rollercoaster of caveman proportions. Guitarist Buck Dharma's virtuosic solos are as sharp as a velociraptor's talons, while Eric Bloom's vocals soar higher than a pterodactyl on a sugar high.
But it's not all dino-sized riffs and prehistoric puns. Tracks like "Monsters" and "Divine Wind" delve into deeper themes, exploring the darker corners of human nature with a sly wink and a knowing nod.
"Cultosaurus Erectus" may not be the most refined album in Blue Oyster Cult's discography, but it's certainly one of the most fun. It's like a Neanderthal disco party, with anthems that make you want to stomp your feet and howl at the moon.
So grab your animal skin loin cloth, dust off your mammoth bone tambourine, and get ready to rock out like it's 10,000 BC. Blue Oyster Cult have unearthed a true gem with "Cultosaurus Erectus" - a sonic time machine that'll transport you straight to the Stone Age of classic rock.

About the artist
Blue Öyster Cult
BLUE OYSTER CULT: The Band that Time Forgot (But Shouldn't Have) Hailing from Long Island, New York, BLUE OYSTER CULT are the unsung heroes of 70s rock. With a name that sounds more like a seafood dish than a band, BOC have been churning out hard-hitting tunes since the early days of the Nixon administration. Combining elements of hard rock, heavy metal, and even a touch of prog, BLUE OYSTER CULT have carved out a sonic niche that is uniquely their own. From the iconic riff of "Don't Fear the Reaper" to the dark, brooding atmosphere of "Godzilla," these guys are the kings of the cryptic lyric and the killer guitar solo. But despite their undeniable talent, BLUE OYSTER CULT have never quite received the recognition they deserve. Maybe it's their slightly oddball image, with their penchant for sci-fi and occult themes, or maybe it's the fact that they've never quite fit neatly into any one genre. But whatever the reason, BOC are a band that should not be overlooked. With a discography that spans over four decades and includes over a dozen albums, there is no shortage of material to dive into. So whether you're a seasoned fan or a newcomer to their music, it's time to give BLUE OYSTER CULT the recognition they so rightfully deserve. Just don't forget to bring your cowbell.
