Our Take
Ohmslice's latest offering, Conduit, is a tantalising whirlwind of sonic experimentation that will leave you simultaneously scratching your head and tapping your foot. The band's eclectic sound ranges from psychedelic rock to electronica, with a hint of prog rock thrown in for good measure. Opening track "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" sets the tone for the album, with its swirling synths and groovy bassline drawing you in from the get-go. Lead singer Johnny Voltage's haunting vocals add an extra layer of complexity to the already dense musical landscape. The standout track, "Circuit Breaker," is a masterclass in genre-blurring brilliance. With its infectious hooks and hypnotic rhythms, it's impossible not to get lost in this mesmerising sonic journey. However, not every track on Conduit hits the mark. "Static Shock" struggles to find its footing, with a jumble of sounds that never quite coalesce into a cohesive whole. Overall, Ohmslice have crafted an album that is as baffling as it is brilliant.
