Our Take

Upon first listen, DIVIDED HEAVEN's latest album "Cold War" had us feeling as confused as a pigeon playing chess. The songs on this record are like a mixed bag of sweets; some tracks are as satisfying as a Cadbury Flake, while others leave a weird taste in your mouth like a stale Jammie Dodger.

Lead singer Jeff Berman's vocals are reminiscent of a young Jarvis Cocker, with a dash of Liam Gallagher's swagger thrown in for good measure. The lyrics are witty and introspective, but at times they verge on being pretentious, like a hipster sipping on a deconstructed flat white.

The instrumentation on "Cold War" is tight and energetic, with enough punk rock attitude to make even the Sex Pistols proud. The driving guitar riffs and pounding drums will have you bobbing your head like a nodding dog in the back of a car.

Standout tracks include the anthemic "Revolution Radio" and the melancholic "Broken Hearts Club", both of which showcase DIVIDED HEAVEN's ability to craft catchy, heartfelt songs that stick in your head like a catchy earworm.
