Our Take

Manchester's own Biting Tongues have returned with their latest offering, "Clear Your Screens," and let me tell you, this album is an absolute whirlwind of sonic experimentation. With a title like that, you might expect a collection of songs about digital detoxing or maybe even some anti-screen time anthems, but what you actually get is a wild ride through a kaleidoscope of industrial beats and post-punk attitudes.

From the moment the opening track kicks in, you're thrown headfirst into a world of clashing rhythms and distorted vocals that will make your head spin in the best possible way. The band's DIY ethos shines through in every gritty guitar riff and off-kilter drum fill, creating a sound that's as raw and unpredictable as it is infectious.

Whether you're a seasoned Biting Tongues fan or a newcomer to their unique brand of musical chaos, "Clear Your Screens" is sure to leave you both satisfied and craving more. So go ahead, pop this album on your record player, crank up the volume, and let yourself get swept away by the exhilarating madness that is Biting Tongues. Trust me, you won't regret it.

About the artist

Biting Tongues

Biting Tongues, the enigmatic British post-punk outfit, burst onto the music scene in the early 1980s with their genre-defying sound and provocative lyrics. Led by the charismatic frontman Howard Walmsley, the band quickly gained a reputation for their raucous live performances and experimental approach to music-making. With influences ranging from the avant-garde noise of Throbbing Gristle to the angular rhythms of Gang of Four, Biting Tongues carved out their own unique sonic territory, blending elements of punk, funk, and free jazz to create something truly original. Their debut album, "Don't Heal," was a critical and commercial success, cementing their place as one of the most exciting bands of the era. But it wasn't just their music that set Biting Tongues apart – their idiosyncratic fashion sense and outlandish stage antics also garnered them a devoted following of fans. From Walmsley's sartorial choices (think: neon paint-splattered suits and oversized sunglasses) to the band's habit of incorporating props like rubber chickens and inflatable dinosaurs into their performances, Biting Tongues never failed to entertain. Despite their brief tenure in the spotlight, Biting Tongues left an indelible mark on the music world, inspiring a new generation of artists with their boundary-pushing sound and fearless attitude. So whether you're a seasoned post-punk aficionado or just looking to expand your musical horizons, Biting Tongues is a band worth sinking your teeth into.
