Our Take
Our Take
The CHIEFTAINS have been knocking about for 60 whole years - that's even longer than your gran's been telling you to find a "real job". But hey, who needs a real job when you've got the world of Irish folk music at your fingertips, right?
"Chronicles" is essentially a greatest hits album on steroids, with all the classics like "The Foggy Dew" and "Mo Ghile Mear" ready to transport you straight to the Emerald Isle, or at least your local Irish pub on a Saturday night.
But don't be fooled by the nostalgia - these lads can still pack a punch even after all this time. Just listen to the fiery fiddle work on "Morning Dew" or the haunting vocals on "The Rocky Road to Dublin" and you'll see why they're still top of the folk game.
Sure, there's a few tracks that might make you want to reach for your nearest pint of Guinness and start dancing a jig, but hey, that's all part of the CHIEFTAINS charm. So sit back, pour yourself a whiskey, and let these legends serenade you into a world of Celtic magic and toe-tapping tunes.
Overall, "Chronicles" is a solid reminder of why the CHIEFTAINS have been around for so long - they're the OGs of Irish folk music, and they're not going anywhere anytime soon. So raise a glass, put on your dancing shoes, and let the CHIEFTAINS take you on a musical journey through 60 years of pure, unadulterated craic. Cheers to that!
