Our Take

Ah, Talking Heads, those quirky New York punks turned art rockers turned...well, still quirky as ever. Their live set at Chicago on August 28, 1978 was nothing short of a spectacle. David Byrne's jittery energy combined with Tina Weymouth's funky basslines and Jerry Harrison's riffs created a sonic rollercoaster that had the whole crowd on their feet, or at least bobbing their heads in pretentious approval.

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly "Psycho Killer", with Byrne's maniacal vocals cutting through the air like a Bowie knife. The band's tightness and precision were on full display, with each member locked in a groove that was as mesmerizing as it was danceable.

But it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. There were moments where the performance veered dangerously close to self-indulgence, with Byrne's antics teetering on the edge of annoying rather than endearing. And let's not even get started on that oversized suit he insisted on wearing.

Overall, Talking Heads proved once again why they are one of the most iconic bands of their time. Their ability to blend artful experimentation with infectious grooves is a testament to their enduring legacy. So, if you're a fan of quirky art rock that makes you want to dance, then this live album is definitely worth a listen. Just be prepared for some wacky antics along the way.
