Our Take
Our Take
Hailing from the land of fish and chips, dull weather, and a questionable royal family, Genesis has returned with their latest offering, "...Calling All Stations..." Let's see if this album is worthy of a spot next to iconic British acts like The Beatles and The Stone Roses.
The album kicks off with "Calling All Stations," a track that feels like a confused attempt at recreating the magic of Phil Collins' vocals. Unfortunately, it falls flat, much like a soufflé left in the oven for too long.
"Shipwrecked" follows, with lyrics that sound like they were penned by a group of intoxicated blokes after a night out in Soho. The song's repetitive chorus may leave you feeling as lost at sea as the titular shipwrecked soul.
As we navigate through the album, tracks like "Alien Afternoon" and "The Dividing Line" fail to capture the essence of classic Genesis. Instead, they come across as a sad attempt to keep up with the changing landscape of music.
Overall, "...Calling All Stations..." is a forgettable addition to Genesis' discography. It's like a soggy crumpet - not terrible, but definitely not the highlight of your breakfast. Stick to classics like "Selling England by the Pound" and "Invisible Touch" if you want a true taste of the band's brilliance. Cheers!
