MICHAEL BUBLÉ - Call Me Irresponsible

Ah, Michael Bublé, the smooth crooner who has made a career out of making mums swoon and aunties weep with his suave vocals and charming demeanor. His 2007 album "Call Me Irresponsible" is no exception to the Bublé formula, but does it bring anything new to the table or is it just more of the same old schmaltz?

The answer is a resounding...meh. Bublé plays it safe on this album, sticking to his tried-and-true formula of covering classic standards and adding a sprinkle of his own personal flair. The result is a collection of pleasant, if predictable, ballads that are perfect for a quiet evening in with a glass of wine and a cheese platter.

That's not to say there aren't moments of brilliance on "Call Me Irresponsible." Bublé's rendition of "Always on My Mind" is heartfelt and emotive, showcasing his undeniable vocal talent. And the title track, with its jaunty swing beat and playful lyrics, is a toe-tapping delight that will have you reaching for your dancing shoes.
