Our Take

Ah, the good ol' days of the 80s. A time of neon colours, big hair, and, apparently, some seriously questionable music choices. Various Artists' C85 is a compilation album that takes us back to this wild era, featuring a mishmash of hits and misses from the likes of Duran Duran, Culture Club, and Wham!.

The album kicks off with Duran Duran's classic hit "Hungry Like the Wolf", a song that still gets us grooving all these years later. But things quickly take a turn for the worse with Culture Club's "Karma Chameleon", a track that has us questioning if it was ever considered cool.

Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" provides a much-needed breath of fresh air, with its catchy chorus and infectious energy. But then we're hit with some real head-scratchers like A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran (So Far Away)" and Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy". Are these songs meant to be taken seriously or are they just a product of their time?

Overall, C85 is a mixed bag of 80s nostalgia. Some tracks are timeless classics that will have you singing along at the top of your lungs, while others might have you wondering what on earth people were thinking back in the day. But hey, that's the magic of the 80s for you.
