Our Take
Our Take
Ah, Steve Lukather, the man, the myth, the guitar legend. What can we say about his latest album "Bridges" that hasn't already been said about a soggy biscuit? Lukather's virtuosic skills on the guitar are on full display here, weaving in and out of genres with the finesse of a ninja on roller skates.
From the soulful balladry of "Serpent Soul" to the funky grooves of "Run to Me", Lukather proves once again why he is one of the most sought-after session musicians in the business. The album is a melting pot of influences, with hints of rock, jazz, and even a touch of country twang thrown in for good measure.
However, for all its technical wizardry, "Bridges" can sometimes feel like a lukewarm lukewarm latte on a rainy Monday morning. Lukather's vocals, while serviceable, lack the charisma and depth to truly elevate the songs to the next level. And the production, while polished, can sometimes feel a bit too slick for its own good.
But hey, who needs substance when you've got style, right? "Bridges" is a fun, if slightly forgettable, romp through Lukather's musical playground. So grab a pint, put on your best air guitar face, and let "Bridges" take you on a journey through the mind of one of rock's most enduring icons. Because at the end of the day, isn't that what music is all about?
