Our Take

NOTORIOUS B.I.G. Born Again is the hip-hop equivalent of finding a £50 note in your pocket that you forgot about - unexpected, but definitely a welcome surprise. Packed with posthumous tracks and remixes, this album is a fascinating glimpse into the mind of the late, great Biggie Smalls.

From the get-go, Born Again hits you like a Tyson uppercut, with tracks like "Notorious B.I.G." and "Dead Wrong" showcasing Biggie's unparalleled flow and lyrical prowess. The production, courtesy of heavyweights like Timbaland and Havoc, is top-notch, giving the album a modern edge while still paying homage to Biggie's classic sound.

But it's not all sunshine and rainbows on Born Again. Tracks like "Dangerous MC's" and "Real N****s Do Real Things" feel a bit like filler, lacking the creativity and spark that made Biggie a legend in the first place. And let's not even get started on the unnecessary "Big Booty Hoes" interlude.

Overall, NOTORIOUS B.I.G. Born Again is a mixed bag. While it's great to hear new material from one of the greatest rappers of all time, some tracks fall flat, failing to live up to Biggie's larger-than-life legacy. But hey, it's Biggie - even his leftovers are better than most rappers' main courses. And for that, we can't help but give Born Again a solid 7.5 out of 10.
