Our Take

Forget the saying "bigger is better," because with Notorious B.I.G's posthumous album "Born Again," we're left wondering if perhaps smaller would have been more appropriate.

The album kicks off with the track "Tonight," which sets the tone for what's to come - a mishmash of samples and forgotten verses that are pieced together like a musical Frankenstein's monster.

Tracks like "Dead Wrong" featuring Eminem and "Rap Phenomenon" featuring Redman and Method Man show flashes of the late rapper's talent, but ultimately get overshadowed by lacklustre production and uninspired guest appearances.

With over 15 tracks, "Born Again" feels bloated and unfocused, like a buffet where everything looks appealing but fails to deliver on taste.

Even the album's standout track "Notorious B.I.G" featuring Lil' Kim and P. Diddy can't save "Born Again" from being a forgettable addition to the rapper's legacy.

In the end, "Born Again" feels more like a cash grab than a tribute to one of hip-hop's greatest artists. Stick to the classics like "Ready to Die" and "Life After Death" if you want a true taste of the Notorious B.I.G's genius.
