Our Take

The Stray Cats are back, meowing their way into our hearts with their latest offering, "Blue Summer In The Garden State." This album is a purr-fect blend of rockabilly, blues, and a touch of that good ol' Jersey attitude.

From the opening chords of the title track, you can't help but be transported to a smoky bar on the Jersey shore, sipping a cocktail and tapping your toes to the infectious rhythms. Brian Setzer's guitar work is as slick as ever, slinking and sliding its way through each track with the grace of a cat stalking its prey.

The band's signature swagger is on full display here, with tracks like "Rockin' in Rumson" and "Jersey Girl Jive" bringing the heat and the nostalgia in equal measure. But it's not all about the flash and the flair – songs like "Asbury Park Serenade" and "Bayonne Blues" show a softer, more introspective side to the trio.
