Our Take
Our Take
Rod Stewart, the wrinkly rocker with a heart of gold and a voice of gravel, is back with his latest offering, "Blood Red Roses." Now, I know what you're thinking - another album from the man who hasn't aged a day since the 70s? But don't be too quick to judge, because this album is actually quite a treat.
From the jaunty opener "Hole in My Heart" to the heart-wrenching ballad "Grace," Stewart proves that he still has what it takes to tug at our heartstrings. His signature rasp is as rough and raw as ever, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a time when rock 'n' roll ruled the airwaves.
But it's not all roses for Rod on this album. Some tracks like "Rollin' & Tumblin'" and "Rest of My Life" feel a bit too generic, lacking the spark that made Stewart a household name in the first place. And let's be honest, do we really need another cover of "I Don't Want to Talk About It"?
Overall, "Blood Red Roses" is a solid effort from a veteran rocker who refuses to fade into obscurity. While it may not be his best work to date, it's still worth a listen for fans of classic rock and anyone who appreciates a good ol' sing-along. Keep on rockin', Rod.
