Our Take

Slaughter & The Dogs have sunk their teeth into the punk rock scene once again with their latest offering, "Bite Back." This album is a manic, raucous romp through the gritty streets of Manchester, filled with snarling vocals and blistering guitar riffs that hit like a punch to the gut.

From the opening track, "Where Have All The Bootboys Gone?" to the closing anthem, "I'm the One," Slaughter & The Dogs never let up for a second. The energy on this record is palpable, with each song delivering a potent blend of anger, aggression, and sheer attitude.

Lead vocalist Wayne Barrett's sneering vocals are a perfect match for the band's raw, uncompromising sound, while Mick Rossi's blistering guitar work adds an extra edge of intensity to every track. The rhythm section, comprised of bassist Howard 'Zip' Bates and drummer Brian 'Mad Muffet' Grantham, provide a solid backbone for the band's frenetic sonic assault.

Standout tracks like "Dame To Blame" and "Johnny T" showcase Slaughter & The Dogs at their furious best, while the slower, more melodic moments on songs like "Breakdown" and "It's Alright" offer a brief respite from the chaos.

Overall, "Bite Back" is a thrilling, adrenaline-fueled ride that proves Slaughter & The Dogs are still a force to be reckoned with in the punk rock world. So crank up the volume, grab a beer, and let this album sink its teeth into your soul.

About the artist

Slaughter & the Dogs

Ah, SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS, the pioneers of punk rock from Manchester who have been tearing up stages since the mid-70s. These lads are the epitome of raw energy and unapologetic attitude, a true force to be reckoned with in the music scene. Formed in 1975, SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS quickly made a name for themselves with their fast-paced, aggressive sound and their wild, chaotic live performances. Lead vocalist Wayne Barrett's snarling vocals and guitarist Mick Rossi's blistering riffs are a match made in punk rock heaven, creating a sound that is as ferocious as it is infectious. Their debut album, "Do It Dog Style", released in 1978, is a punk rock classic that has stood the test of time. Tracks like "Where Have All the Boot Boys Gone" and "Dame to Blame" are anthems of rebellion and youthful defiance, capturing the spirit of the punk movement in all its glory. Despite their tumultuous journey with lineup changes and hiatuses, SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS have never lost their edge. Their latest album, "Vicious", released in 2016, is a testament to their enduring spirit and musical prowess. From the blistering opener "Scream and Scream Again" to the anthemic closer "Joy Joy Joy", the album is a rollercoaster ride of punk rock energy that will leave you breathless. SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS are a band that refuses to be pigeonholed or tamed, and that's what makes them so special. In a music industry that often values conformity over creativity, these lads are a breath of fresh air. So, do yourself a favour and crank up some SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS - you won't regret it.
