Our Take

Album Review:
HAMISH IMLACH - Ballads Of Booze

One part sea shanty, two parts pub sing-along, Hamish Imlach's "Ballads Of Booze" is a rollicking good time from start to finish. The Scottish folk singer's gravelly voice perfectly captures the essence of a rowdy night out, with tracks like "Whisky Seller" and "Beer is Best" practically begging for a pint to be raised in salute.

Imlach's irreverent storytelling shines through on each track, with tales of drunken escapades and debauchery sure to bring a smile to even the most straight-laced listener's face. The combination of upbeat melodies and cheeky lyrics makes "Ballads Of Booze" the perfect soundtrack for a night of revelry with friends.

Whether you're a seasoned pub-goer or just looking for a good time, Hamish Imlach's "Ballads Of Booze" is sure to get your toes tapping and your spirits lifted. Pour yourself a drink, press play, and let the good times roll.

With a career spanning over five decades, Imlach left an indelible mark on the folk music scene with his irreverent songs and playful stage presence. Born in Calcutta, India in 1940, Imlach moved to Glasgow as a child and quickly fell in love with traditional Scottish music. He began performing in local folk clubs in the 1960s, where his unique blend of folk, blues, and comedy quickly won him a loyal following.
