Our Take
Our Take
Ah, That Petrol Emotion, the band that never fails to get our engines revving. Babble, their latest offering, is a rollercoaster ride of sonic delights. Filled with infectious hooks and electrifying energy, this album is like a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart.
From the opening track, "Big Decision," with its pulsating bassline and anthemic chorus, to the closing notes of "Creeping to the Cross," Babble is a non-stop thrill ride. The band's trademark blend of punk attitude and pop sensibility is on full display here, with each song delivering a punch to the gut and a smile to the face.
Lead vocalist Steve Mack and guitarist Raymond Gorman's dynamic interplay is a joy to behold, with their back-and-forth banter adding an extra layer of depth to the already rich tapestry of sound. The rhythm section of John Kettle (bass) and Ciaran McLaughlin (drums) provide a solid foundation for the band to build upon, propelling each song forward with relentless energy.
Standout tracks like "Swamp" and "Tingle" showcase That Petrol Emotion at their absolute best, combining catchy melodies with razor-sharp lyrics to create a truly unforgettable listening experience. Babble is a triumph from start to finish, a testament to the band's enduring talent and boundless creativity. So buckle up, turn up the volume, and get ready to be blown away. Trust us, you won't be disappointed.

About the artist
That Petrol Emotion
Oh, THAT PETROL EMOTION. They burst onto the scene in the 80s with a sound as energetic and explosive as their name suggests. Formed by John O'Neill and brothers Damian and Raymond O'Neill after the demise of The Undertones, this band hails from Northern Ireland and brings a unique blend of punk, rock, and pop to the table. Their debut album, "Manic Pop Thrill," released in 1986, is a scorching collection of anthems that perfectly encapsulates the band's fiery spirit. Tracks like "Natural Kind of Joy" and "Swamp" showcase their infectious energy and catchy melodies, while "V2" and "Dance Your Ass Off" prove that they're not afraid to push the boundaries of conventional rock music. Unfortunately, THAT PETROL EMOTION never quite reached the level of fame that many thought they deserved. Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, they remained on the fringes of the mainstream throughout their career. But that's all part of their charm - they're a band that's always done things their own way, regardless of trends or expectations. With their raw, unapologetic sound and electrifying live performances, THAT PETROL EMOTION have left an indelible mark on the music world. They may not have achieved superstardom, but they've certainly earned a place in the hearts of those who appreciate true rock 'n' roll spirit. And who needs mainstream success when you've got that kind of legacy?
