Our Take
It is with a heavy heart (and a heavier sense of duty) that I must deliver my thoughts on ANGELICUS's latest offering, "Approachin." As an aficionado of all things musical, I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating an album. However, in the case of "Approachin," it seems like ANGELICUS may have missed the mark.
The album opens with a track that promises a journey of ethereal sounds and transcendent melodies. But as the record progresses, it becomes clear that ANGELICUS may have been a bit too ambitious in their approach. The songs seem to meander aimlessly, lacking a cohesive thread to tie them together. It's like a musical snake eating its own tail - intriguing at first, but ultimately unsatisfying.
And let's not forget the vocals. ANGELICUS's voice is a unique instrument, to be sure, but it often feels like it's trying too hard to be quirky and offbeat. It's as if they're desperately clinging to the notion that being different is better, without realising that sometimes simplicity is key.
In conclusion, while "Approachin" has its moments of brilliance, they are few and far between. ANGELICUS may have the potential to create something truly special, but they need to refine their sound and focus their energy in order to truly fly. For now, I'm afraid "Approachin" falls short of the mark. Let's hope that ANGELICUS can find their groove on their next endeavour.
