Deep Purple - Amsterdamned Seventeen studio albums and over fifty years in the game, Deep Purple are the OGs of hard rock. But can they still bring the heat with their latest offering, "Amsterdamned"? Opening track "Smoke on the Water 2.0" kicks things off with a bang, setting the scene for a whirlwind of guitar solos and killer vocals. Ian Gillan's unmistakable voice cuts through like a hot knife through butter, reminding us why he's one of the best in the biz. The album takes us on a journey through classic rock vibes with a modern twist, blending old school energy with fresh production. Tracks like "Highway Star Redux" and "Space Truckin' Part II" showcase the band's ability to evolve while staying true to their roots. But it's not all smooth sailing on "Amsterdamned". A few tracks feel like filler, lacking the punch and pizzazz of Deep Purple's heyday. "Purple Haze" and "Amsterdamage" fall flat, leaving us craving more of that classic Purple magic. Overall, "Amsterdamned" is a solid addition to Deep Purple's legendary discography. Despite a few missteps, the album proves that these rock legends still have plenty of gas left in the tank.
