Our Take

Ah, Electric Light Orchestra, or ELO as the cool kids say. This band's music is like a warm hug from a funky alien. "All Over The World - The Very Best Of" is a perfect snapshot of their brilliant, eclectic career.

From the cosmic vibes of "Mr. Blue Sky" to the groovy nostalgia of "Don't Bring Me Down", these tracks are a time machine to the 70s and 80s. You can practically smell the polyester jumpsuits and feel the disco fever in the air.

Jeff Lynne's vocals are as smooth as a freshly waxed roller disco floor, gliding effortlessly over the lush instrumentation. The orchestral arrangements are so grand, they make Queen look like a garage band.

But don't be fooled by the slick production and catchy hooks - there's a cheeky sense of humour running through these songs. "Livin' Thing" is a boppy jam about love gone wrong, while "Evil Woman" is a sassy clapback to a toxic ex.

"All Over The World" is a shiny, glittery disco ball of an album that will have you dancing around your living room in your flares and platform shoes. So grab a mirror ball and get ready to boogie down to ELO's timeless hits.

About the artist

Electric Light Orchestra

Electric Light Orchestra, or ELO for short, are the brainchild of Jeff Lynne, a man with more creativity in his moustache than most have in their entire bodies. Formed in Birmingham in 1970, ELO have become synonymous with their unique fusion of rock, pop, and classical music, creating a sound that can only be described as "majestic af." Lynne's songwriting prowess is unmatched, crafting intricate arrangements that soar and swirl like a symphony on steroids. Hits like "Mr. Blue Sky" and "Don't Bring Me Down" have solidified ELO as one of the greatest bands of their generation, a sentiment echoed by anyone with an ounce of taste. Their live shows are a sight to behold, with a spaceship stage setup that rivals even the most elaborate of Broadway productions. Lynne's voice may not hit the same high notes as it did in the '70s, but his musicianship is as sharp as ever, leading a band of top-tier talent through their extensive catalogue with finesse and flair. With a discography that spans decades and genres, ELO have proven themselves to be true musical chameleons, adapting and evolving without ever losing their signature sound. Whether you're a diehard fan or a casual listener, one thing is for certain: ELO are a force to be reckoned with, a sonic powerhouse that continues to inspire and delight audiences worldwide. Long live the Electric Light Orchestra.
