Our Take
Tankard's latest release, "Alcoholic Metal," is a raucous rollercoaster of beer-fueled madness that will no doubt have metalheads raising their pints in approval. The German thrash metal veterans have crafted an album that is equal parts aggressive and intoxicating, with riffs that hit harder than a Saturday night hangover. From the opening track "Pay to Pray," Tankard waste no time in delivering their signature brand of high-speed, headbanging madness. The guitar work is razor-sharp, the drumming is thunderous, and frontman Gerre's vocals are as gritty as a pub floor at closing time. Tracks like "Arena of the True Lies" and "Don't Bullshit Us!" showcase Tankard's ability to tackle serious topics with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, showcasing their unique blend of humour and aggression. The band's irreverent attitude towards the norms of society and love of all things beer make for an entertaining listen from start to finish. While "Alcoholic Metal" may not reinvent the wheel when it comes to thrash metal, it's undeniable that Tankard know how to create a damn good time.
