The Horrors have always been a band that thrives on reinvention, and their latest album, "Against The Blade," sees them once again stepping into uncharted musical territory. From the opening track, it's clear that this is not the same band that gave us hits like "Still Life" and "Sea Within a Sea."
Gone are the dreamy synths and haunting vocals, replaced instead with a cacophony of aggressive guitars and pounding drums. It's as if The Horrors have decided to trade in their goth-disco sound for something much more sinister.
Lead singer Faris Badwan's vocals are more urgent and primal than ever, as he delivers lyrics that are equal parts cryptic and menacing. The rest of the band follows suit, creating a sonic landscape that is both jarring and hypnotic.
Tracks like "Neon Nightmare" and "Blood Moon" are standout moments on the album, with their relentless energy and infectious hooks. It's clear that The Horrors have no intention of playing it safe with this release, and their bold experimentation pays off in spades.
