Charnel Altar's latest offering, "Abatement Of The Sun," is a wild ride through the darkest corners of doom metal. With riffs so heavy they'll make your speakers quake and vocals that could summon the dead, this album is not for the faint of heart.
The opening track, "Eternal Night," sets the tone for what's to come - a relentless assault of sinister melodies and bone-crushing beats. Lead guitarist Vilem Strigoi's solos are nothing short of mind-melting, while drummer Morticia RottingCorpse's double bass pedal work is a force to be reckoned with.
The standout track, "Spectral Embrace," is a haunting masterpiece that will leave you feeling like you've just been taken on a journey through the underworld. Singer Grim Reaper's guttural growls are both terrifying and intoxicating, perfectly complementing the apocalyptic atmosphere created by the rest of the band.
However, "Abatement Of The Sun" is not without its flaws. The production quality leaves something to be desired, with the mix sometimes feeling muddy and detracting from the overall impact of the music.
