Our Take

Suede's "A New Morning" is a curious concoction of '90s Britpop nostalgia and '00s questionable fashion choices. The album kicks off with "Positivity," a track that tries so hard to exude optimism that it ends up sounding like a desperate cry for help. Brett Anderson's vocals are as melodramatic as ever, accompanied by some truly questionable synth choices that make you wonder if the band accidentally picked up a Casio keyboard from a garage sale.

Throughout the album, Suede delves into themes of love, heartbreak, and the occasional existential crisis. "Lost in TV" channels their trademark melancholy with a hint of resignation, while "Lonely Girls" feels like a desperate attempt to recapture past glories. The band's lyrics, as always, are filled with poetic imagery and emotional depth, but sometimes it feels like they're trying a bit too hard to be profound.

Despite its flaws, "A New Morning" does have its moments of brilliance.
