Our Take
Drop Nineteens 1991, oh boy, where do we even begin with this blast from the past? This album is like a time machine that takes you straight back to the early 90s, complete with flannel shirts, scrunchies, and plenty of angst-filled guitar riffs. With track titles like "Winona" and "Kick the Tragedy," it's clear that Drop Nineteens were channeling some serious Gen X vibes with this record. The vocals are dreamy and full of longing, while the guitars buzz and fuzz in all the right places. But don't let the nostalgia fool you, there's a depth to this album that goes beyond just reminiscing about the good old days. The songs are beautifully crafted, with layers of sound that reveal themselves more and more with each listen. In true Pitchfork fashion, we have to give this album a solid 8 out of 10. It may not be groundbreaking, but it's certainly a gem from a bygone era that deserves to be dusted off and appreciated once again.
